l'Italia, lei è mancato

"Italy look after my heart, I left it with you."
One day I was running to my favorite point in Florence, Piazza di Michelangelo. This point overlooked all of Florence, and it was where I would go every week to either soak in my Italian life experience and watch the sunset, journal, reflect, or pray. One day I was hiking my way to the top, and when I turned a corner I saw this quote written on one of the walls,"Italy look after my heart, I left it with you."At first I giggled to myself and thought,"how cheesy", but then it dawned on me how much I was going to truly miss my Florence lifestyle once it was all left behind.
I never thought being back in the states would be this bazaar of a change. Not a day goes by that I constantly think of Europe and I continue to compare my lifestyle here, to my lifestyle there. I need to let go, and accept that I am no longer there, yet I yearn to once again walk the cobblestone streets, sip espresso, and practice my broken Italian. Florence is an ex boyfriend. At times I want it back, and my heart is still in the relationship, but I have to move forward with my life here. Florence, you are so missed.
