Journey

"Your job as a young 22 year old is to listen, and fill yourself up with knowledge... gather it from observed experiences and those around you... put it all inside of you; rather then following someone else's path or example, use that knowledge to find your own solutions, ways, answers, and ultimately develop your own path. Life is like a river where you will encounter tranquil waters, or turbulent rapids, however, knowledge is power and your wisdom will allow you to guide yourself through a blissful journey"

- The brilliant Indian woman I met on my photo adventure of the day

Laughter and Lights

My Best Friend,
Makes me laugh so hard I cry
Embellishes my strengths
Reveals the nature of my core
Has undeviating faith
And energizes positive ingenuity
My Best Friend
is Lena.
This post is a tribute to her, and our invariable and everlasting friendship <3
Fall photos from my trip of a lifetime to visit her in Chicago!

Dream On...

If I had it my way...
I'd forever be young, not work a day in my life, and travel the world

If I had it my way...
I'd book a morning flight to explore the mountains and coasts of Alaska
I'd spend a year backpacking Australia
I'd skydive New Zealand
I'd be a photographer in southeast Asia
I'd make friends in Bali
I'd sail the Cook and Sunday Islands
I'd explore the dunes of the Sahara
I'd hike the trails of Patagonia
I'd soak in the hot springs of Iceland
I'd get lost in the rain forests of South America
I'd spy on a tiger in Africa
I'd swim in the clear waters of Croatia
I'd spend a winter snowboarding Whistler

With that said, here are some pics from my drive home from Mammoth. A place that always awakens my senses of exploration.

Wind and Sea

Labor day morning I woke up, hopped out of bed, grabbed my camera, and headed down the street to one of my favorite beaches: Wind and Sea in La Jolla. I hadn't taken time to update this blog of mine or take pictures for the simple reason of enjoyment since I had moved back to San Diego. However, in church on Sunday the pastor made a simple but excellent point that snapped me back to basics. He said, "When you do what you love, you feel excited about life... and that excitement carries with you throughout the day and that positive energy is channeled unto those around you". When you do what you love you not only benefit yourself, but you have opportunity to better the day of those around you with the smile of enthusiasm your day has brought you. In other words, inspiring others towards happiness, brings you happiness. Its the ideology of "paying it forward". So with that said I challenge you to take time to do what you love today, pick a passion that reenergizes the core of who you are and go out and do it :)

The Great Outdoors!

Nature has a way of bringing you back to the rawness and purity of life. Cool springs, crisp mountain air, dusty trails, and the smell of summer pine allows for excitement, adventure, and mental clarity. The mountains have always been my sanctuary; a place that bestows sparkling serenity.

Heaven on Earth

Yesterday I went house shopping with my mom to spiff up my new beach cottage! She is an interior designer, and therefore has a passion for transforming mass and volume to substance.

Interior design is an aesthetic science. Measurement, precision, and delicate practice must be taken into consideration. The design of your surroundings creates your atmosphere, and your atmosphere in turn provokes your emotion. Your emotion within your surroundings creates a cognitive experience.... stimulation, comprehension, reason, understanding, and knowledge.

The Promise Land

Anyone that is Cali born and bred knows that once you travel outside the God given sunshine state of perfection, and tell someone your from California, you receive instant respect (and for good reason). People tend to associate California with Hollywood and fame... or rather, the hell hole of people with distorted lives. Yet, California natives know the reason we live here is for the impeccable weather conditions and the fact that you can enjoy a day at the beach, then strap your snowboard to your car and head east for the mountains. The rival of So Cal vs. Nor Cal prevails... and to each his own. Both state spectrums are equally magnificent; however, my favorite California city will forever be Santa Barbara. A city of spanish architecture, kick back friendly people, and a Mediterranean vibe. The following pictures were taken in Santa Barbara: the best city on earth, within the nonpareil state of California.

A Gentleman's Game

A club swung... a courteous pause
An accurate shot... a polite clap
A missed chip... an honorable silence
A putt made... a hat tipped
An opponent defeated... a hand shaken

A Good Morning

I'm a morning bird to say the least.
I've always been the daughter, the roommate, the friend, that is up before the rest. When you sleep in you miss the best part of the day; a time that is young, unblemished, and crisp. An enjoyed morning, leads to an enjoyed day.
